Susan G. Johnson



Susan is a Member and Manager of the Echelon companies, and serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Susan believes law is a fuel for commerce and is committed to using the law, and her other expertise, to achieve Echelon’s business goals and those of its clients.  Susan’s eclectic career reflects her need for intellectual challenge, and various learning disabilities.

Susan has diverse experience including law, finance, real estate development, marketing, sales, operations, and investor and governmental relations.   Her career includes structuring corporate and real estate development/transactions, M&A, corporate and asset financial structuring, and corporate governance. In finance and lending she has secured corporate and asset-specific capital (equity and debt).

Susan’s marketing and sales background includes product design, pricing, enhancement and implementation supported by product-specific marketing plans, related media and sales plans, and sales force management.  Susan also established and maintained investor relation programs for a publicly traded micro-cap company, including design and presentation of road shows and shareholder meetings.

Susan has extensive operational management and systems experience for various corporate functions including bank operations & branch administration, financial investments & reporting (including ERISA plans), and marketing.

Susan was a member of the management team of Echelon International Corporation (formerly NYSE:  EIN) that successfully closed a privatization transaction delivering a 42% premium to shareholders.  Prior to EIN, Susan was Director of Strategic Planning for Florida Progress Corporation (formerly NYSE:  FPC), an electric utility-based holding company.  At FPC she spearheaded development and implementation of the corporate and business units’ strategic management program.  Prior to FPC she spent several years in banking.

Susan earned her Legum Magister (LL.M.) from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. (concentration Constitutional Law; National Security Law Certificate), her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law (Salutatorian, Magna Cum Laude), her Master of Business Administration from the University of South Florida (with honors), and a bachelor of science degree in finance from Florida State University.  Susan was a 2013 Fellow at Harvard University in its Advanced Leadership Initiative. Susan is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the State of Florida.
